They definately gave champions more defense. Before they did, I could hit Rizofag for around 150 dmg per tick with Lightning without Infuriate. After, I tried again and with lvl 4 Infuriate I only did 70 dmg per tick.

Sudden strike works very well with champions. Against the lvl50 Aysor I used to be able to hit him for 300 or so base damage. Now I hit him for only 40-60. Using sudden strike I was able to hit him in the low 300s again. So having an archer to cast sudden strike on champions would be advisable as everyone will get the benefit from the spell. Spell resistance on them are still highly dependent on player's lvl vs champion's lvl.

Infuriate lvl 5 is as strong as Sudden Strike lvl 1 and its cooldown = its duration. So, if we managed to get lvl 5 Infuriate and lvl 5 Sudden Strike, than that would completely nullify the champion's protection and you'd be able to do your maximum dmg to them for a short time(last I heard Sudden Strike's duration was quite short compared to its cooldown).

I'm not sure if anyone uses Sudden Strike on more than lvl2. I too, only use it at lvl1. But if you have multiple archers in the group you can alternate between each other with some coordination.
